Surgery for Strictures from Crohn's

I have a number of intestinal strictures causing issues including constipation, bloating, etc. I am considering surgery (strictureplasty and/or resection) to help resolve the issues. Has anyone experienced anything similar? Most interested in outcomes.

My son just had emergency surgery this past February when his undiagnosed strictures caused debilitating twisting of his intestines. So yes, I'd say go for it because if he could have had the surgery under non-emergency circumstances, it would have been much less scarier.

Thank for sharing Wendy. How is your son doing? Did he have strictureplasty or resection?

Neither. He already has a J-pouch, and it appears he formed strictures at the ilium and where his pouch connects to the small bit of remaining rectum. They both caused twisting, and he was a mess. Fortunately, no necrosis so the pouch was saved.

    Is dilatation an option, Shelly?

Not sure until the surgeon goes in to get a clearer picture.
